I was born in Weston-super-Mare and lived my early life in Nairobi, Kenya. I then moved to Canada where I was educated in Ottawa, Canada.
I then moved back to the UK where in 1976 I qualified as a chartered physiotherapist. This led me to work as a physiotherapist in Oxford where I concentrated on the design and making of specialist equipment with particular emphasis on anatomically efficient chairs.
My interest in the design and creation of equipment and chairs led me into a two year full time course at the John Makepeace School for craftsmen in Wood, Beaminster, Dorset (1985-1987).
After this course I established a workshop in Brackley, Northants to design and make to order a wide range of furniture and games in English and exotic hardwoods.
Then in 2003 I relocated my workshop to Chester where I have continued the same business and kept in touch with many previous clients.
