About NCFM
Northern Contemporary Furniture Makers (NCFM) is a group of designer-makers, all based in the North of England, who aim to celebrate and promote the excellence of high quality contemporary wooden furniture.
All members are professional makers and most of their work is contemporary in nature - although both the design and construction of pieces may show the influence of previous periods. Northern Contemporary Furniture Makers support each other in artistic and professional development. We like to show up-and-coming young makers as well as the more established designers.
What we do
The makers shown on this website can undertake every size of project from a large public commission to the smallest jewellery box. They have experience of designing and making freestanding and fitted furniture for homes, gardens and businesses as well as public organisations, museums, churches and schools. Many of our makers produce pieces for exhibition and a range of items can often be viewed in their workshops and showrooms. Existing designs can often be adapted to suit clients’ requirements, and made from a choice of woods to a range of dimensions. However, a large portion of NCFM’s work is commissioned from scratch, allowing clients to become involved in the process of designing unique and individual pieces to suit specific locations and requirements.
All the members listed on this website would be delighted to send you further details about their work, to discuss a project over the telephone, or to arrange a visit to their workshop.
