Northern Contemporary Furniture Makers Exhibition 2010
Northern Contemporary Furniture Makers are once again exhibiting their latest creations and some more well established pieces at their Annual Exhibition taking place at Tennants Auction Centre in Leyburn.
Dates: from 11th September to 25th September – see details below
This year’s show will feature works from Anna Childs, Paul Case, Philip Dobbins, Design in Wood, Gabler Furniture, Richard Jones, Andrew Lawton, Mawdsley Williams, James MacKay, Tim Rinaldi, Soren Stendevad, John Thatcher, Chris Tribe and WoodB. You can see some of the exhibits here.
The show, now in its 4th year, aims to celebrate the talent, inspiration, creativity and craftsmanship that exist amongst makers in the north. Pieces exhibited range from jewellery boxes to dining room sets, from display cabinet to coffee table or magazine racks.
Also on show are the many different techniques and inspirations which the makers use. From traditional techniques to the use of modern technology, all pieces have one thing in common: superb individual craftsmanship and contemporary design.
The makers find their inspiration from varied sources but all of them are experienced in transforming people’s ideas into beautiful objects/pieces which can be enjoyed for many years. Because they are both designers and makers they are able to control all aspect of the process, this makes the bespoke process a truly satisfying experience for customers.
The makers will be on hand during the exhibition to discuss their pieces with visitors, so it is a wonderful opportunity to find out in a very informal way about what is available in the north and support talent and creativity in the region.
Why not attend our Charity Preview Evening in support of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance which will kick start the exhibition on: 11th September 2010 6.30 – 8.pm (Entrance fee £10 pp).
The evening is an opportunity to see all the makers in one room, and to support a charity which is close to the heart of many of the makers since it was key in the recovering a colleague following an accident at work. NCFM is very proud to support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance as it is very conscious of the emergency response it has relied upon in the past.
During the evening a raffle will take place with the following prizes:
#1 – Hamper provided by Mackenzies Yorkshire Smoke House (worth £100)
#2 – Stripy presentation board by WoodB (worth £49)
#3 - 2 bottles of wine
